An East Iceland native through and through, Ólafur works as head Chef and co-owner of the Seafood Cellar restaurant, in Reykjavik 101. In addition, he is on the Icelandic Culinary Team, which is ended in 7th place on the Culinary World Cup in Luxembourg last November and is currently preparing for the Culinary Olympics, to take place in Erfurt 2012.
Having a passion for ingredients from his home region, Ólafur uses them extensively in his cooking, believing them to be unique in their purity, quality and honesty. He therefore diligently seeks out small producers of exciting East Iceland ingredients and employs their products liberally at the Seafood Cellar restaurant.
